The Hallwyl Museum is a private house from the turn of the century 1900. The house was inhabited until 1930 and has since been a state-owned museum which is now part of the National Historical Museums (SHM), a government agency.

Access preferences

Audio tours (Acoustic Experiences)

The audio book “Vägledning” [recorded audio tour] in Swedish is available for purchase in the museum shop for SEK 60. We also offer an interpretative audio guide for the visually impaired. An audio descriptive guide costs SEK 40 to use and is available in the museum’s entrance.

Language (Visual Experiences)

When you arrive at the museum, there are texts about the first floor that you can borrow. The texts are available in the following languages, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Swedish

Wheelchair inaccessible (Getting around inside the museum)

The Hallwyl Museum has a portable guide system that facilitates tours for the hearing impaired. The guide system can be connected to one’s personal hearing aid. Request the guide system when booking a guided tour, or at the ticket counter. The Hallwyl Museum lacks lifts. The public spaces are not accessible for those in a wheelchair or using a walker.
