Museum Niederösterreich
About Us Mandates: What do we do? Museum Niederösterreich, with its Haus der Geschichte and Haus der Natur, presents themes related to and concerning Lower Austria. In doing so, we contribute to underscoring the Federal Province's identity and self-awareness. We regard it as a living museum, offering the citizens and friends of our province a broad educational avenue and thus creating a place for lifelong learning. Museum Niederösterreich's exhibitions primarily consist of original pieces from Lower Austria's collections. Content: How do we do it? In the architecturally unique building that houses Museum Niederösterreich in St. Pölten, all exhibits are prepared scientifically and in accordance with best modern practice. We impart knowledge playfully and ensure excitement in discovery. In addition to its permanent displays and sections with live indigenous animals, the museum regularly organizes special exhibitions. We see ourselves as cultural service providers, placing our visitors at the center of our activities. Visitors: For whom do we do it? Museum Niederösterreich is a very popular attraction for families and an establishment with a wide range of high-quality educational programs for schools. Competence, friendliness, exceptional educational value, a pleasant museum atmosphere and accessibility to almost all areas combine to make the museum so special. Staff: How do we treat each other? A strong “we” spirit prevails in our team that manifests itself in mutual appreciation, colleagueship and motivation. Every member of our team has clearly defined areas of responsibility. Communication and knowledge transfer are not one-way, we practice active and lively discourse. The quality of our displays and exhibitions, events and publications reflect our staff's expertise and qualifications. These are continually developed, enabling us to look forward with confidence to the challenges of the future. "Our Museum Niederösterreich - where Lower Austria is at home"Access preferences

- Sustainability (Environmentally responsible)
Sustainable thinking and acting concerns us all!
Only in this way can we contribute to the preservation of our planet in the long term and make our coexistence more accessible and socially fairer.
As art, cultural and scientific institutions, we in particular create social awareness with our sophisticated content and its high-quality presentation and communication. We see an important task in making a relevant contribution to sustainable action, environmental protection and a respectful coexistence without exclusion and discrimination. We want to achieve this on the one hand through specific measures in the organization of our art, culture and science establishments as well as in the implementation of exhibitions and events. On the other hand, we want to actively address sustainability in communication with our audience. Ultimately, we also want to encourage art and science to deal with issues of sustainability.
For this purpose, the NÖKU Group has the “NÖKU Sustainability Standard” in autumn 2020 as a guideline for all its employees, for its almost 40 artistic and scientific institutions and their operating locations, for the implementation of events and exhibitions as well as for the NÖKU -Holding created itself, which is implemented gradually and consistently by all companies.
It is about a holistic consideration and evaluation of all essential areas of activity in the planning and implementation of events and exhibitions: event or exhibition location, event or exhibition technology, general procurement processes and waste management, social issues (such as accessibility), mobility / transport, Catering / gastronomy, communication, accommodation .
With its sustainability strategy, the NÖKU Group contributes to the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and its 17 sustainable development goals (the so-called Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs). Art, culture and science as well as the promotion of creativity contribute equally to the economic, social and ecological dimensions of the 2030 Agenda.
In the newly created NÖKU platform for sustainability , the sustainability officers of the individual companies regularly exchange information in order to enable knowledge transfer and exchange of experience . The implemented measures will be evaluated for the first time in early 2022 and communicated internally / externally on a regular basis .
