Musée Sainte-Croix

The Musée Sainte-Croix is the largest museum in Poitiers, France. Planned by the architect poitevin Jean Monge and built in 1974, it stands at the site of the former Abbaye Sainte-Croix, which was moved to Saint-Benoît, Vienne. It is a constructed of concrete and glass, in the 1970s style.

Entrance (Accessible entrance for pushchairs and wheelchairs)

The main entrance to the museum , 61 rue Saint-Simplicien, is fitted out to PMR standards (people with reduced mobility). The reception, the ground floor (medieval collections and part of the Fine Arts, 16th -19th centuries ) , and the temporary exhibition room (if exhibition in progress) are thus accessible to people in wheelchairs .

Guide dogs (Animals)

Assistance dogs for people with disabilities and/or vulnerabilities are authorized to enter the museum, upon presentation of proof.

Parking (Parking)

Parking spaces specifically allocated to people with reduced mobility (PRM) are located near the museum, rue Saint-Simplicien and rue Paschal-Lecoq.

Tours (Group and Tours)

We organize, on request , specific activities for groups of adults and children with motor, sensory (hearing and visual), mental, cognitive and psychological disabilities.

Visiting (Getting around inside the museum)

The museum floors are inaccessible to wheelchairs and difficult to access for people with reduced mobility due to a large number of stairs.
