The National Museum is a museum in Oslo, Norway which holds the Norwegian state's public collection of art, architecture, and design objects. The collection totals over 400,000 works, amongst them the first copy of Edvard Munch's The Scream from 1893.

Access preferences

Audio loops (Acoustic Experiences)

Information desks and several public meeting and activity rooms are fitted with audio induction loops.

Bicycle parking (Getting there)

Bicycle parking can be found by Aker brygge and by the personell entrance (facing Munkedamsveien).

Disabled parking (Parking)

There are no parking spaces available for motorized vehicles, except for four disabled parking spots in Dokkveien.

Public transportation (Getting there)

Public transport is available by tram, subway, train and bus.

Service dogs (Animals)

Assistance dogs are allowed in all museum buildings.

Strollers (Children friendly)

It is possible to use your own stroller in the museum, but strollers larger than 100 cm long and 75 cm wide must be parked in the wardrobe. You may be asked to switch to one of the museum's rental strollers. Ask a museum host for assistance. Due to security reasons, the contents of bags and strollers may also be checked by security staff.

Wheelchair entrance (Accessible entrance for pushchairs and wheelchairs)

Beside the steps leading to the main entrance facing Bankplassen there is a sign pointing to the entrance at the back of the building, on Nedre Slottsgate. Use the bell at the grey gate. This entrance is step-free. It is access controlled and visitors will be accompanied into the building. There is an elevator to all floors.
