Gallery of Matica srpska Serbia

The Gallery of Matica Srpska, as the oldest national art museum, is, as it were, a mirror of the state, a sort of stained glass window depicting historical events, showcasing artistic preferences and aspirations of Serbian artists. The collection illustrates the history of Serbian people, safeguards the memory of events in the region they have inhabited, and points out the distinctive qualities of artistic ideas and ideals they have engendered

Educational programs (Workshops)

Thanks to the educational programs that we have been implementing for more than a decade, over 40,000 children have experienced the Gallery of Matica Srpska, especially the Children’s Room, as their own space, and continued to visit it. The sense of belonging, pride and satisfaction with which they return and walk through the Gallery is the greatest confirmation of the success of our work.

If you are an educator or a teacher, visit us with your group of children and indulge in a unique artistic adventure! In addition to the current program, you can choose a topic from our previous programs in accordance with your needs and educational work and schedule a visit.

Workshops (Workshops)

In an effort to make the space accessible and attractive to young people and enable them to connect with works of art and the Gallery itself, we develop and organize various programs for school groups and students. Works of art as a starting point, we re-examine various social occurrences through interactive workshops, active involvement of young people and through the awareness of open, stimulating dialogue. Keeping in mind that a museum object does not carry an objective truth and meaning, in an atmosphere in which learning is intertwined with fun, we encourage young people to seek and give their own meaning to works of art and express views and opinions on the topics we cover.
