Experience history – at the Zeitgeschichtliches Forum Leipzig. We present German history from the end of the Second World War to the present day in the form of exhibitions, events, online projects and publications. We are one of the four museums belonging to the Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland Foundation.

Access preferences

Dogs (Animals)

You may take an animal into the museum (e.g., the lobby), but not into the exhibition. Exceptions are guide dogs and assistance dogs.

Educational programmes (Easy Read & Understanding)

Our educational programme focusses on life-long learning and prepares the exhibition content in a way suitable for the respective target group, be it children, young people or senior citizens. The wide-ranging services extend from group guided visits and workshops through to materials that invite visitors to explore the exhibitions for themselves.

Lifts and doors (Getting around inside the museum)

Our permanent exhibition is on the 2nd floor, the special exhibitions and the events hall are on the 3rd floor. They can be reached by wheelchair and there are two lifts accessing them. There are some seats in the exhibitions (partly without backrests). The two seminar rooms on the 4th floor have doors with a width measuring 0.75 metres.

People with difficulties walking (Getting around inside the museum)

The exhibitions are accessible to wheelchair users and there are two lifts accessing them. There are some seats in the exhibitions (partly without backrests). You can borrow wheelchairs, walking frames, walking sticks and portable stools from the Information Desks on the ground floor and in front of the permanent exhibition. Reading aids for exhibition texts that are positioned above wheelchair height can be obtained from the Information Desk in front of the permanent exhibition.

Public transport and entrance (Getting there)

You can reach the museum using public transport barrier-free. The entrance is flush with street level and has a mechanical swing door.
